Bon Weekend!
We had a short day at work heading into the long weekend, so I got to spend the sunny and crisp afternoon running errands and walking about. I took my Valentine’s bouquet home (I’m still in awe) and picked up a package (pink wellies!) while making my way through busy North Beach. I must admit I was spoiled rotten on Tuesday: 100 flickering candles, home cooked dinner, scattered rose petals, and a tiny Ginger Rogers…suffice it to say that the phrase “head over heels” is more than accurate. Tomorrow the boy and I are going to the Ferry Building farmer’s market and taking our spoils off on an adventure. If I can get the Polaroid land camera we bought on the street up and running, you’ll see what we find soon.
I am feeling like a very lucky girl today and I hope your weekend is amazing!
XOXO.

If I ever get married, this will be my wedding song. Also a regular number in my shower concerts.
Happy New Year!
Etsy Wishlist: Old Hollywood Glamour
I am dreadfully tired of the decor of my apartment–primarily my bathroom. With one of my 2012 resolutions being “always be a lady,” I am determined to turn it into a proper powder room as soon as possible. My apartment building is 100 years old, and there’s a bit of the bygone era left in nooks and crannies. I am cobbling together a feminine look with a touch of Hollywood Regency style, imagining the dressing tables of Garbo or Tallulah Bankhead as they readied themselves for glamorous nights out.
Some vintage favorites I have found on Etsy include:
1. Silver Wingback Lounge Chairs 2. A Pair of Amethyst & Fire Opal Earrings 3. Brass Vanity Tray 4. Vintage Marquee Letters 5. The Most Brilliant 1930s Sequin Top 6. A Gold Polka Dot Vanity Set 7. Crystal and Lucite Lamps 8. A Lovely Little Art Deco Perfume 9. Velvet Brass Vanity Chair
The thought that counts.
I received so many deeply thoughtful gifts this holiday season; a true testament to the beautiful people surrounding me. The least of these were not: a night out with dinner and a show, a couple of titillating vintage magazines, tap shoes (!!!), and lots and lots of glitter.
A gift from a very sweet boy was really over and above: A 1958 book of Rilke poetry wrapped in neon-painted brown paper. At the turn of every page there were vintage surprises to be found: postcards, old photographs, ornate liquor labels, stamps, and even a stray feather. Each linked back to a personal interest or conversation. The Greta Garbo lobby card just sends me still. The Warhol stamps are perfection. After McKuen, Rilke is one of my very favorite poets and I cannot wait to read The Cornet, enfolded in old-book smell and the thought of each treasure that was to be found within.
