Obligatory Twin Peaks Appreciation Blog
This has been a long time coming, as I am utterly obsessed with this show. I’m going to save you the feverish essay explaining why and just say that Lynchian things are some of the most beautiful, creepy, wonderous things in the world to me. Though there is plenty else going on to distract (like what the hell is happening right now oh god why the fuck is that midget talking backwards and who brought all this creamed corn and can Bobby Briggs and his sixth grade haircut just choke on some pitch gum and die already dear Jesus please) I am awestruck by the framing and cinematography.
In 1990, when the first season premiered, the show was considered technically and artistically revolutionary for TV, as it aimed at reaching the same standards of film. Sometimes I am amazed that it was such a hit for primetime being the campy, strange and gorgeous nightmare that it is.
Also: Audrey Horne.
