Anonymous asked: I've been looking into moving to San Francisco. As a 23 year old artist, which neighborhoods are cool ones to look into (and not for millionaires.) What do you love about living there?
I recommend the mission district. Fair prices for the city, awesome food, great thrifting, thriving art and indie community, and pretty good location relative to other awesome parts of town.
I love that the city is big enough to get lost in, and small enough to really feel like home. I love the “anything goes” freedom, even when that means the naked guy next to me is tap dancing and telling his stories from Burning Man. I love the diversity, the museums, the amazing food culture, the art scene, the hippie contingent, the dive bars, the shopping and the craze people have for community events and festivals. I love that every neighborhood is like a new land with its own vibe and often temperature. I love that every time I walk out of my door there is a new adventure, and it’s never the same.
